Local roper earns world championship

A local resident won a world title in roping.

Scott Snedecor of Fredericksburg earned a third career gold buckle in steer roping at the National Finals Steer Roping on Nov. 11 in Mulvane, Kansas.

The two-time champ, who won gold buckles in 2005 and 2008, roped nine head in 104.1 seconds, according to florodeo.com.

Snedecor’s performance helped him earned first place in the Weather Guard Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association 2017 World Standings for steer roping, earning $136,419.22 over the season.

He also finished fifth in the 2017 All-American Pro Rodeo Series’ standings for steer roping.
