Lady ’Horns stay on fire on the court
Finally waking up from the nightmare that was a 1-5 start on the season, the varsity volleyball team from Harper High School won all five games it played during the past week.
The three wins the Longhorns earned in Saturday’s Knippa Tournament action allowed them to capture that title. In the tourney, Harper opened with a 25-18, 25-15 victory over Utopia, followed by wins over Leakey (25-15, 25-13) and host Knippa (25-18, 25-17) in the championship match.
Earlier last week, HHS topped Ingram on the road on Tuesday, Aug. 16, by scores of 29-27, 25-12, 25-14, then remained hot two nights later when the Ladyhorns edged past Comfort in their home opener, 25-23, 26-24, 14-25, 25-22.
Results from last night’s home match with Sabinal were not available by this week’s press deadline.
The season continues Thursday and Saturday when Harper will participate in the Comfort Varsity Tournament. From there, the Ladyhorns will travel to Burnet on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. match.
