In a football game that saw plenty of drizzle but precious little scoring until the final period, Harper managed to pull out a 14-7 victory over visiting D'Hanis on Homecoming Night last Friday.

The victory kept the Longhorns unbeaten through the initial five games of the 2017 campaign.

The Longhorns hit the road for their next two games, traveling to La Pryor this Friday, then opening up district action Oct. 13 at Sabinal.

On Oct. 20, district competition continues when Harper hosts arch-rival and always tough Mason. After an open date on Oct. 27, the 'Horns will close the regular season down with a pair of games — at Brackettville on Nov. 3, then the finale at home with Junction a week later.

All match-ups are scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

Harper 14, D'Hanis 7

After playing in the rain for nearly 41 minutes — almost three and a half quarters of clock time — the Cowboys from D'Hanis almost burst Harper's Homecoming dreams by completing a seven-play drive to the end zone in the late going.
