"Fourteen" was the number for the day as the track squads from Heritage School earned that many first-place finishes in the various events conducted at the Round Rock Christian Academy Invitational Track Meet held April 8, on the Florence High School campus.
Overall, the Longhorns took third place in the boys' varsity standings, while the girls’ varsity group captured fifth in its division. Each of the junior high teams — girls and boys — left the meet with first place trophies in their possession.
Jesse Mayer earned both gold medals for the Eagles' varsity girls by running 2:34.40 in the 800-meter run and 5:47.80 in the 1,600-meter run. Likewise, the varsity boys registered first place finishes in the pole vault event (11' 6" by Jonathan Hoermann) and the shot put (38" 3.25" by Jackson Abel).
The lion's share of the top finishes were earned by the junior high school girls, with seven. Mary Armes capture three number one finishes — 300-meter hurdles in a time of 57.30, long jump (15' 05"), and triple jump (29' 9.25").
Others adding gold to the junior high girls' treasure trove were Ellie Faucheaux (100-meter hurdles in 18.80), Hayle Mayer (pole vault, 7' 00"), Olivia Loggie (discus, 69' 10.5"), and the 4x400-meter relay team of Brooke Chastain, Lilah Brillhart, Hayle Mayer, and Emmaline Kitzmiller, with a time of 4:59.40.
