Heritage set for playoff spot

Eagles take out Summit, senior makes return

Heritage School came away with another district win.

The Eagles’ varsity boys’ basketball team beat Cedar Park Summit, 78-26, on Thursday, Jan. 31, at Heritage School’s MPAC.

Josh Hoermann led the team with 23 points, but the highlight of the game was the return of his older brother, senior Jonathan Hoermann, who returned from ACL injuries that robbed him of most of the last two years’ worth of sports.

The senior entered the game with three minutes left in the third and made three 3-point shots to end the third.

His last one came on a fadeaway shot from the corner, which sent Heritage’s crowd into a frenzy.

“The atmosphere this night, I will cherish, and I’m sure Jonathan will, as well, for the rest of our lives,” coach Clarence Stewart said. “This young man is just a natural born leader, and I am blessed to have coached him and (have) him be a part of my life.”

Heritage had a game against San Angelo Cornerstone on Tuesday, Feb. 5, but results were not available as of press time.

Next up is the regular season finale against San Marcos Hill Country, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in San Angelo.
