Harper sending 10 athletes to regional track meet

Ten members of the Harper track and field varsity team — eight girls, two boys — will represent their school in this weekend's Region IV 2A meet slated for Friday and Saturday at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville.

Qualifiers from this meet will move on to the state championships slated for May 11-12 in Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus in Austin.

Leading the girls' contingent will be Marti Lumpkins (pole vault), Rebekah Stracke (4x200-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay), Hailey Doyle (3,200-meter and 1,600-meter run), Lindsey Talavera (4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relays), Delanie Dunning (pole vault, 4x200-meer and 4x400-meter relays), Gracie Green (100-meter hurdles, 4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relays), Whitney Spaeth (4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relays), Caroline Bacon (4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relays).

On the boys' side, participating in the regional event will be Bryan Ganis (3,200-meter and 1,600-meter runs) and Sean Baethge (300-meter hurdles).
