Harper rallies from deficit to claim 34-15 win on opening night

Following a slow and sometimes painful start, Harper managed to pull out a 34-15 victory over visiting Christoval in Friday night’s first game of the 2018 campaign.

Three Longhorn interceptions bogged down the HHS effort in the early going. The Cougars took advantage of those miscues in the early going to build up a 15-0 margin.

Harper, however, shook off this heavy burden to come back for the decision.

The Longhorns will hope to keep their winning ways going strong when they travel to San Saba this Friday evening.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Harper 34, Christoval 15

It was a game in two acts. The visiting Cougars from Christoval exploded for a 15-0 lead in the first part, but then Harper stormed back, scoring 34 unanswered points to earn a 34-15 victory in Friday night’s season-beginning game for both schools.

“This game was a very exciting way to kick off the football season,” said Harper head coach Dusty Gibbs.

Exciting, indeed.
