Freeborn, Reavis earn all-state nods for soccer
Fredericksburg High School girls’ soccer had one of the program’s best seasons in 2018.
The proof is in the postseason results.
Senior Gloria Reavis and junior Julia Freeborn both made the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches’ all-state second team this season.
The accolades highlight a year where the Billies finished third in the District 27-4A race and advanced to the regional quarterfinals.
“Julia and Gloria are both phenomenal players and leaders,” coach Logan Minshew said. “Everything they do makes the team better. Their leadership on and off the field, I can’t speak highly enough of all the things they do in the classroom, as well. They’re both academic leaders.
“When we’re out here getting ready to work, I know that those two will be out here leading by example.”
The duo spearheaded a season where FHS took out two of the region’s top teams this season, beating Wimberley — the Region IV runners-up in 2017 in a district match-up and taking out Salado — the Region IV champs in 2016 — in the area round.
