Representatives of the Hill Country University Foundation and Texas Tech University-Fredericksburg hosted an appreciation dinner at the HCUC campus on May 16 to honor donors, sponsors and underwriters at the annual Forging Futures Golf Classic.
According to Dr. Tom Hutton, the tournament’s chairman, the event netted more than $150,000, a “substantial increase” over last year during the tournament held on April 7-8 at Boot Ranch.
“This exceeded our goal, and was due to the generosity of donors, sponsors, and underwriters,” Hutton said. “In addition, the number of people who golfed was up 20%. We anticipate continuing these efforts and growing the event.”
Funds raised go to the HCUC Foundation and TTUFredericksburg, to be used for student scholarships and academic program development.
“This campus makes it possible for students to gain a bachelor’s degree, to continue their jobs locally, and continue to contribute to the community and economy,” Hutton said. “We hope it also enables more graduates to stay in Fredericksburg.”
