FHS, Harper XC set for state meet

Fredericksburg High School and Harper High School are set for the UIL Cross Country State Championships this Saturday, Nov. 4, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

The Billies are sending the varsity boys’ team of Eloy Alvarez, Alex Contreras, Lorenzo Garcia, Graham Hammond, Joel Jenschke, Gus Martin and Darien Robles, as well as individual girls’ qualifier Bethany Kendrick.

The boys finished third and Kendrick came in 10th at the Region IV-Class 4A meet Monday, Oct. 23, in Corpus Christi to qualify.

Harper is sending both the boys’ and girls’ teams to state.

The boys’ team is comprised of Newt Eaheart, Bryan Ganis, Evan Hill, Luke Mader, Michael Dean Marbach, Kade McAdams and Christophe Peralt.

Caroline Bacon, Hailey Doyle, Delanie Dunning, Whitney Spaeth, Rebekah Stracke, Lindsey Talavera and Sara Walters make up the girls’ team.

Harper’s boys finished fourth and the girls earned third place in the Region IV-Class 2A meet to advance to state.
