Fredericksburg High School varsity girls’ track took the team title in the Kerrville Tivy Antler Relays on Thursday, March 8, at Antler Stadium.
Varsity beat out Class 6A school Smithson Valley, 121-107.67, to win the meet. Junior varsity finished in second place to Smithson Valley by 20 points.
“Despite the school size differences, our girls were able to notch a meet win in the varsity division and second-place finish in the junior varsity division,” coach Dan Aldrich said. “The girls competed very well against some great competition and scored points where we planned on scoring them. We still have lots of fine tuning to do in the second half of the season, but for now, I am very pleased with where we are in our training and how we are performing at meets.”
Senior Megan Daley won the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump to earn two of FHS’ gold medals.
Junior AJ Davis won shot put and Elizabeth Sebera won discus. Davis and Sebera also earned bronze medals in discus and shot put, respectively.
Other varsity medalists were Kyndal Esensee (silver, 100 meter dash and 4x200 meter relay), Anna Gold (silver, 4x200), Aleah Constantine (silver 4x200 and pole vault) and Molly Pluenneke (silver, 4x200 and triple jump).
Caitie Huff (300 hurdles), Hayle Mayer (discus and shot put), Mackenzie Youngblood (long jump), and Kayla Driver (pole vault) were gold medalists in the junior varsity division.
FHS heads to the Marble Falls Relays on Saturday, March 24, at Marble Falls High School.
