FHS girls' soccer bows out in regional quarterfinals

The Billies season came to a close with a third-round loss Thursday night.

Fredericksburg High School varsity girls’ soccer lost to the Liberty Hill Panthers, 4-0, in the Region IV-4A quarterfinals Thursday, April 5, in Burnet.

FHS’ regional quarterfinal appearance marks the team’s farthest postseason trip since the Billies advanced to the third round in 2015.

A pair of goals on corner kicks put FHS behind, 2-0, by the end of the first half, and two more Liberty Hill goals during the second half kept any hope of a comeback at bay.

FHS beat Salado, 1-0, in the area round of the playoffs on Tuesday, April 3, in Burnet, prior to the Liberty Hill game.

“Salado is one of the best soccer programs in 4A,” coach Logan Minshew said. “Year in and year out, they head down to the regional tournament and fight for a shot at representing Region IV at the state tournament.”
