Fredericksburg High School boys’ varsity basketball had a tough time in the Canyon Lake Tournament, but coach Tim Kaman’s looking at the positives from their play.
FHS won a game against Wimberley, 66-41, but lost games to San Antonio Randolph, 57-54, Somerset, 87-65, and Boerne Champion, 55-37, in the tournament, which ran Friday and Saturday.
The Billies finished with a 1-3 record in Canyon Lake this weekend, but played teams with height and even one of the Class of 2018’s top recruits, forward Tristan Green of Champion.
“All in all, I was really happy with our kids this weekend,” coach Tim Kaman said. “Though we went 1-3, and losing one of those at the buzzer, I think we learned some things about ourselves and we got better.
“That is what needs to happen. We need to continue to learn and improve every day.”
Seniors Tyler Kaman and Levi Esensee were both named to the Canyon Lake Tournament’s all-tournament team.
Fredericksburg also had a road game against the Llano Yellowjackets on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Llano, but results were not available as of press time.
Next up for the Billies is a trip to the Somerset Tournament in Somerset on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 16-17, at Somerset.
They play San Antonio Harlandale at 4 p.m. and Somerest at 7 p.m. Friday, and Carrizo Springs at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
