Fredericksburg High School varsity boys’ soccer sits in the driver’s seat for the District 28-4A championship.
The Billies beat Boerne, 2-1, on Friday, March 9, to take the district title with a game to go in the season.
Tristan Sanchez scored 10 minutes into the second half to give FHS a 2-0 lead.
Boerne cut it to one header at the 20 minute mark. The Greyhounds kept attacking, but FHS found a second wind and repelled Boerne’s offense for the rest of the game.
“(The) game was a total team effort and the players accomplished the first of their goals this season,” coach Shannon Petsch said. “(It) gave us the district championship and the 200th win for the program.”
Sanchez also helped FHS produce its first goal by drawing a penalty kick early in the first half, which Philipp Buchner scored.
The Billies wrap up the regular season against the Canyon Lake Hawks at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, at FHS Stadium.
