FHS baseball eliminated in area round
Fredericksburg High School baseball took Texas High School Baseball’s ninth-ranked Class 4A team to three games this weekend before falling short of advancing to the next playoff round.
After losing to Sealy, 14-0, on May 12 at Texas Lutheran University, FHS won game two on May 13 at Leander Glenn High School, 3-2.
Finally, on May 21 at Leander Glenn, Sealy no-hit FHS, 2-1, to win the third game and advance to the next round of the playoffs.
“Give Sealy credit,” said FHS baseball coach Derrick Dietrich. “They did a great job and made plays behind their pitcher. It just wasn’t meant to be for us. Their pitching is good, above average. We just didn’t put good at bats together. It was disappointing for all of us.”
The Billies finished their season at 19-10. They finished District 28-4A with a 9-3 record and in second place, behind Boerne.
The Billies advanced past the first round of the playoffs by defeating La Vernia, 11-5, on May 5, in bi-district play.
