Billies win twice before starting hoops tourney season

The Battlin’ Billies picked up two more wins before heading into a busy week of play.

Fredericksburg High School varsity boys’ basketball improved to 4-2 this season after taking back-to-back games, including a close game Friday.

FHS beat San Antonio Veterans Memorial, 37-36, with a last second shot by Sean Majors on Friday, Dec. 1, in San Antonio, and defeated Uvalde, 59-49, on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at home.

The Billies faced the Medina Valley Panthers late Tuesday night on the road, but results were not available as of press time.

The Canyon Lake Tournament, set for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9, at Canyon Lake High School, is next on FHS’ slate. FHS has games against San Antonio Randolph, Somerset, Boerne Champion and Wimberley. Canyon Lake, Ingram and Lockhart also play in the tournament.

FHS 37, Veterans Memorial 36

The Billies trailed Veterans Memorial with seven seconds left in the game, but Majors made a shot over a defender to give his team a fourth win this season.

FHS started the game with a 13-6 lead in what turned out to be a low-scoring game.
