The Fredericksburg High School varsity softball team split 1-1 this week against Hondo and Boerne.

The Billies are now 3-2 in District 28-4A and 11-10-1 overall.

Hejl and the Billies are hopeful for a district championship as they are currently ranked 3rd in District 28-4A, behind Canyon Lake and undefeated Boerne.

“We’ll need some help from other teams for a district championship but it is still very much a possibility,” Hejl said

The team faced St. Anthony last night in a non-district match-up.

“The St. Anthony game will be a test and a nice break from our district schedule,” head coach Travis Hejl said. “We are opening to come out strong offensively.”

The Billies face Bandera Thursday, April 13 at Bandera, return home Tuesday, April 18 against Canyon Lake and play Boerne High in the final game district game of the season April 21 at Boerne.

FHS 8, Hondo 3

Friday night the Billies faced Hondo and won, 8-3.

“The Hondo game was great start to finish,” Hejl said.

Sophomore Rose Stuewe got the win, giving up only four hits, walking three and striking out four.
