Billies open playoffs with Gonzales Apaches

After earning their second district title in two years, the Fredericksburg High School volleyball team is headed to the playoffs.

The team faced Gonzales High School late Tuesday night, at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.

The Billies won in three sets, 25-19, 25-17 and 25-8. 

They will face Bellville at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2 at Cedar Creek High School. 



The Billies faced the Gonzales Apaches in the 2016 season and won in three sets, 25-15, 25-14 and 25-7.

According to MaxPreps, the Apaches are 5-18 overall and ended their district 27-4A season with a record of 2-6, enough for fourth place.



In their final district game of the season, the Billies defeated rival Boerne in three sets, to earn the district 28-4A championship title.

The final score was 25-12, 25-15 and 25-19.

Senior Aubrey Sultemeier led the team in kills with 18, a season high.

Senior Ali Grona had 23 digs and one assist, while senior Grace Allen had 20 assists.
