Fredericksburg’s hopes of an extended playoff run were dashed by a state-ranked team.
The Fredericksburg High School girls’ soccer team lost to the Liberty Hill Panthers, 3-0, in the Class 4A-Region IV area round game Friday at FHS Stadium.
The Billies had two weeks to get ready for the Panthers, ranked No. 10 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s Class 4A poll.
“We had some time off and were able to rest and heal,” coach Logan Minshew said. “We also did a great job preparing for a top team in Liberty Hill. The girls were very excited and confident.”
Liberty Hill scored a pair of goals early in the game, including a “golazo” scored from the corner.
Fredericksburg created a few chances in the final 20 minutes of the first half, but Liberty Hill’s defense kept the Billies out of the net.
Minshew said the Billies made halftime adjustments, but were unable to finish their scoring chances.
