Billies girls' golf finishes seventh at state tourney

Fredericksburg High School girls’ golf finished seventh place in the UIL Class 4A Golf State Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, May 21-22, at Slick Rock Golf Course in Horseshoe Bay.

The Billies earned 358 strokes Monday and 368 strokes Tuesday to earn a gross score of 726.

Sophomore Allison James’ rounds of 79 and 89 — 168 total — were good enough for 16th place as an individual.

Junior Estella McMurrey (89-93-182), senior Delaney Whitworth (94-93-187), sophomore Gracie Grona (96-93-189) and senior A’Hisha Rodriguez (100-98-198) competed for FHS this season.

The team champion was Andrews, which won state for a seventh consecutive time. Frisco Lebanon Trail came in second place and Abilene Wylie finished third.

Bohyun Park of Carrollton Ranchview won the individual championship with rounds of 67 and 70 to finish seven  strokes under par.
