Billies boys' soccer ties with Boerne for 27-4A lead

The Billies are tied for first in District 27-4A and can hold its claim to the crown with a win Friday.

Fredericksburg High School boys’ soccer beat the Boerne High Greyhounds, 1-0, on Friday, March 10, at FHS Stadium to move even for first place in District 27-4A with Boerne.

Boerne, which beat FHS, 2-0, in the two teams’ Feb. 21 encounter in Boerne, entered the game with a chance to secure the outright district title by beating Fredericksburg.

But the Billies’ defense has them one game away from clinching a share of the district title after Friday’s win.

“We have been playing really well on defense lately,” coach Shannon Petsch said. “We have not been scored on in the last three games.”

Fredericksburg (13-6-1 overall) now has to beat the Canyon Lake Hawks on Friday at Canyon Lake to become co-champions.

Kickoff is 7 p.m.
