Billies boys' hoops wins 28-4A title, start playoffs Tuesday
The Billies’ week started with a tough loss, but Friday’s win gave them exactly what they wanted.
Fredericksburg High School’s varsity boys’ basketball team beat Hondo 61-29 to end the 2016-17 season as the District 28-4A lone champions.
FHS lost Tuesday’s double-overtime against the Boerne High Greyhounds 62-54, giving the Billies one more try at winning the title outright.
Fredericksburg started the season picked to finish third in the district.
“It was nice to get this one and become district champs,” coach Tim Kaman said. “Picked to come in third in the pre-season rankings, our kids had a goal and they finished it off.”
“I am so proud of this group of young men. Hopefully, we can keep the momentum going,” Kaman said.
