FHS girls parlay UIL state tourney run in district, state accolades

The Fredericksburg High School varsity girls’ basketball team is continuing to bring home post season accolades after a successful season.

The team made it to the UIL State Tournament for the first time in 25 years. Eight players were named to the District 28-4A All-District team.

Accolades are as follows:

•Brittley Bowers: MVP;

• Audrey Spurgin: Co-Offensive Player of the Year;

• Caitie Huff: Defensive Player of the Year;

• Ella Hartmann: Newcomer of the Year;

• Brooke Batch and Anabel Araiza: first team;

• Avery Crouse and Anna Gold: second team.

Bowers also won the following awards: San Antonio Express-News All-Region Team, Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region Team amd Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Team.

Spurgin won San Antonio Express-News All-Region Team, Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region Team, Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-State Team, Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star and All-State Teams.

Hartmann also won San Antonio Express-News All-Region Team, Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region Team, Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Team.

Huff received Texas Association Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State honors, Texas Girls Coaches Association Legacy team and Texas Girls Coaches Association Academic All-State.

The following players were named to the District 28-4A all-academic list: Brittley Bowers, Audrey Spurgin, Ella Hartmann, Brooke Batch, Caitie Huff, Anna Gold, Avery Crouse, Lauren Beyer, Zoe Maurer, Anabel Araiza, Lindy Falting and Anael Araiza.
