Billie volleyball squads start off 2016 schedule
The Fredericksburg High School volleyball team has begun regular season action after competing against teams from across the state.
After two scrimmages against Lake Travis and Wimberley, the Billies took on Leander-Rouse.
The Billies struggled against a tough team that has seven NCAA D1 players, losing all three sets, 16-25, 16-25 and 15-25.
Junior Grace Allen led the team in aces with three, and digs, with 10. Senior Jessie Jarreau led the team in kills with eight. Junior Madi Wahrmund led the team in blocks with two and junior Landry Moffett led the team in assists with 22.
The freshmen also took on Leander-Rouse, and could not come out with the win, with scores of 14-25 and 21-25.
The team started out slow in match one as they had high errors and allowed Leander-Rouse to go on a 10-point serving streak.
In game two, the team was more confident and jumped to a 9-4 lead until the same server came up and went on a six-point serve streak.
Chloe Croker led the team with five kills, one block and one ace. Salome Stephens had two kills, one block and two aces. Claire Nevins and Caitie Huff had two kills each.
