Boerne 11, FHS 5 Friday, March 29

A six-run ninth inning kept FHS from taking a home win against the presumptive district favorites. FHS junior pitcher Brady Staedtler struck out six batters and allowed just one earned run in five innings against Boerne, but defensive woes allowed the Greyhounds to take a 5-2 lead during the fourth. The Billies responded with a three-run rally to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. Both teams stayed even until Boerne’s turn to hit during the top of the ninth inning. Felix Cruz went two for four at the plate, including one run. Jarrett Beard, Hunter Metzger and Cole Immel each drove in a run. Kade Spies scored twice and stole a base as a pinch runner.

Staedtler drove in two runners, and Beard, Immel and Willie Sebera each had twohit games. FHS baserunners swiped five bags in the game, led by Sebera’s two stolen bases.
