Two runners from Fredericksburg High School head into Tuesday’s UIL State Cross Country Championship Meet in Round Rock ranked in the top five in the state.
In addition, the FHS boys’ cross team hopes to improve on last year’s ninth place finish.
Ranked No. 3 in class 4A, FHS freshman Taylor Grona will race at 11:45 a.m. at Old Settlers Park, 3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd. in Round Rock.
FHS senior Andrew Kendrick goes into his 12:30 p.m. race time with the No. 5 ranking in the state.
FHS boys’ cross country team members who are hoping for a good team showing include Kendrick, Miles Hammond, Khristian Torres, Kaleb Torres, Ray Romero, Kade Jenschke and Jorge Lopez.
Results will be published online and in next week’s edition.
Harper High School runners will also compete on Tuesday in the UIL State Cross Country Championship in the 2A division.
Whitney Spaeth, who runs at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, is ranked 37th in the state.
The Longhorn boys’ team, which hopes to make it in the top six in state, will run at 9:45 a.m.
Boys’ team members include: Wesley Spaeth, Ty Holekamp, Zane Schubert, Colton Porter, Newt Eaheart, Derek Perkins, Gray Porter and Zane Fry.
