Nine girls plus two boys from Harper High School qualified for the UIL state track and field championship based on their performances at Monday's regional meet held at Rice Consolidated High School in Altair.
They will next advance to Region IV championships slated for April 27-28 at Javelin Stadium in Kingsville. From there, those scoring high enough will move on to the state UIL championship meet set for May 11-12 at Mike Myers Stadium in Austin.
In the girls' category, HHS will be represented at the regional event by the following student-athletes:
•Delanie Dunning (pole vault, 2nd place, 8 feet 6 inches);
•Marti Lumpkins (pole vault, 8 feet)
•Hailey Doyle (1,600-meter and 3,200-meter distance runs);
•Gracie Green (100-meter hurdles and 4x200-meter relay);
•Quinn Stevenson (100-meter dash);
•Rebecca Stracke (4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relays);
•Whitney Spaeth (4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relays);
•Caroline Bacon (4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relays);
•Lindsey Talavera (4x400-meter relay).
The boys' line-up is as follows:
•Sean Baethege (300-meter hurdles);
•Bryan Gains (1,600-meter and 3,200-meter running events).
