Virginia Brooks George
Virginia Brooks George, 94, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 11, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.
Graveside services and interment are being held today, Wednesday, June 13, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Pineville, Louisiana.
Arrangements were under the direction of Mason Funeral Home.
Mrs. George was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Shreveport, Louisiana, the daughter of Marcus DeLem Brooks and Louise Colvin Brooks. She married David Lloyd George in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1995.
A graduate of Fairpark High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, she moved to Alexandria, Louisiana, where she worked at the Hotel Bentley, eventually becoming the manager’s secretary.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In 1972, she went to work as executive secretary to Cong. Gillis Long until her retirement.
She moved to Fredericksburg in 2006, was active at the Golden Hub and joined Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.
Mrs. George is survived by one son, one daughter and spouses, Brooks and Barbara George of Fredericksburg, and Jill Marie and Robert Bufkin of McKinney; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. George was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Brooks Loflin.
Memorials may be made to the Golden Hub or Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.
