Mrs. Werner G. Ottmers, 92, nee Gertrude Zita Klein of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Nolan officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist and Amy Voorhees, the vocalist.
Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Deacon Pat Klein led vigil-rosary services Sunday evening in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held that evening and Monday morning.
Mrs. Ottmers was born Dec. 5, 1926, at Albert, the daughter of Helmuth Joseph Klein and Olga Lina Pehl Klein. She married Werner George (Wernie) Ottmers on Aug. 13, 1949, in Stonewall. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1997.
She attended the Albert School.
Mrs. Ottmers is survived by three sons, one daughter and spouses, including Gerald and Linda Ottmers, Bruce and Linda Ottmers and Rodney and Malinda Ottmers, all of Fredericksburg, and Cheryl and Michael Usener of Pflugerville.
Survivors also include 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Seddie Durst, and a sister-in-law, Kathy, Mrs. Don Hazelett, both of Fredericksburg.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ottmers was preceded in death by an infant daughter and an infant grandson; two sisters, Clifteen, Mrs. Alois Klein, and Anita, Mrs. Alex Segner, and one brother, Arnold Klein.
Pallbearers included George Ottmers, Glenn Durst, Wilbert Hazelett, Dennis Segner, Gordon Klein and Jarvis Klein.
Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund.
