Mrs. Houston D. Henry
Mrs. Houston D. Henry, 91, nee Margaret Louise Catherine Craig of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Nolan officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Tricia Eilers, the vocalist.
Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Sunday evening and Monday morning, and a vigil service was held Sunday evening.
Mrs. Henry was born on May 30, 1927 in Braman, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles Jones Craig and Lucy Catherine Dieter Craig. She married Houston D. Henry on Oct. 15, 1949, at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death on Jan 2, 2006.
After receiving her nursing degree from St. Anthony School of Nursing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mrs. Henry later worked at St. Anthony Hospital.
While her husband was in the military, they lived in Germany, England and many cities across the United States.
Upon retirement, they moved to Fredericksburg in 1981.
Mrs. Henry is survived by two daughters, three sons and spouses, including Nancy Sue and Brent Feldt of San Antonio, Richard D. and Bethany Henry of Arkansas, Barbara A. Henry of Utah, Douglas C. and Nance Henry of Arizona and Thomas C. and Jeannette Henry of Oklahoma.
Survivors also include 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by one son, John Henry; one great-grandchild, Devon Henry; two sisters, and one brother.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included the grandchildren: Brandy Smith, Scott Henry, Brannan Feldt, Briana Feldt, Heather Freeman, Eric Henry, Angel Chubbee, Gabrielle Henry, Devon Henry and Andrew Henry.
