Leslie Gamble Crittell-Martinez, 74, of San Antonio, died Thursday, June 30, 2016.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapel in San Antonio.
A memorial Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church is planned at a later date, followed by interment of the cremains at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Crittell-Martinez was born Nov. 14, 1941, in Quincy, Massachusetts, the daughter of John Robert and Doris Clara Gamble. She married Richard Anthony Martinez. He preceded her in death.
She was a former president and officer of the VFW.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter, including William Edward Crittell Jr. and his wife, Cynde, of San Antonio; Christopher Robert Crittell of Blanco, and Catherine Kuhlmann and her husband, Stacy, of Fredericksburg.
Survivors also include the children’s father, William Edward Crittell Sr. of Fredericksburg; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, two sisters and spouses, including Donald R. and Ruth Gamble and Christopher C. and Lynn Gamble, all of Florida; Lois and Ron Bradley and Catherine and John Snyder, all of New Hampshire; and a step-sister and spouse, Teresa and Bill Ledeaux, also of New Hampshire.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Crittell-Martinez was preceded in death by one son, Carl Leslie Crittell.
Memorials may be made to the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department, Harper Volunteer Fire Department or the Fredericksburg EMS.
Pallbearers included D.J. Herbort, Paige Kuhlmann, Sarah McCombs, James Bennett, Keinyn Crittell and William Crittell III.
