Enrique 'Ricky' Palacio
Enrique (Ricky) Palacio, 73, of Mason, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Knopp Nursing Home in Fredericksburg.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason with the Rev. Melvin Dornak officiating. Marilyn Kahan was the organist, and Dorothy Asbill and David Vater, the vocalists.
Interment followed in Crosby Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Mason Funeral Home where visitation and a rosary service led by Jane Vargas were held Wednesday evening, Nov. 1.
Palacio was born July 4, 1939, in Menard, the son of Paulino Palacio and Anastacia Aguirre Palacio. He married Mary Lopez on June 24, 1966, in Mason and she survives.
Palacio was a sheep shearer and general laborer and then worked for the City of Mason for 21 years.
In addition to his wife, Palacio is survived by one son, one daughter and spouses, John and Deandra Palacio of Mason and Norma and Felix Castaneda of Fredericksburg, and four grandchildren.
He is also survived by five brothers, three sisters and spouses, including Daniel Palacio, Louis Palacio, Louisa Palacio, David Palacio and Rosalinda Martinez, all of Mason; Moses Palacio and Pete and Diana Palacio of San Angelo, and Irene and Andrew Gloria of Brownwood.
Palacio was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Refugio Enrique Palacio Jr.; two sisters, Frances Soto and Mary Inez Trevino, and two brothers, Paul Palacio and Alfred Palacio.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason.
Pallbearers included Devin Castaneda, John Adam Castaneda, Martin Palacio, Joe Martinez, Ramiro Cantu and Rito Lopez.
Honorary pallbearers were Raegan Palacio, Makenna Palacio, Sarah Howell, Payton Carroll and Jacob Velez.
