E.L. (Gabby) Hohmann
E.L. (Gabby) Hohmann, 87, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, May 5, 2019.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Nolan officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Donna Durst, the vocalist.
Entombment followed in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. A vigil service was also held Wednesday evening.
Hohmann was born on Aug. 5, 1931, in Fredericksburg, the son of Ernst Albert Hohmann and Ida Roeder Hohmann. He married Kathleen Gold on Sept. 19, 1953, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2008.
He is survived by four sons and spouses, including Cary Hohmann, Greg and Tonie Hohmann, and Lonnie and Elginia Hohmann, all of Fredericksburg, and Donnie and Debbie Hohmann of Harper.
Survivors also include four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Frances, Mrs. Paul Hartmann, and Sandra, Mrs. Danny Heep, both of Fredericksburg.
In addition to his wife and parents, Hohmann was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Kathleen Hohmann, and a brother, Gary Hohmann.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund or the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Dean Heep, Sean Heep, Aaron Heep, Matt Gold, Dennis Reininger, Wayne Bisang and Derek Hohmann.
