Daniel A. (Dan) Neffendorf, 92, of George West and formerly of New Braunfels, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018.

Private family graveside services and interment at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels are planned at a later date.

Neffendorf was born June 4, 1925, in Fredericksburg, the son of Alfred Neffendorf and Maud Kilbarn Neffendorf. His wife, Ruth, preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 1985.

A 1942 Fredericksburg High School graduate, Neffendorf was a World War II veteran and was a tailgunner.

He was employed by the Texas Highway Department and was a chief inspector upon retirement.

He was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels.

Neffendorf is survived by two sons, Dan A. Neffendorf Jr. and his wife, Donna, of George West, and Kent E. Neffendorf of California.

He is also survived by two sisters, Vera Kneese of Fredericksburg and Emily Wilson and her husband, Ernest, of Marion.

In addition to his wife and parents, Neffendorf was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Spenrath, and one brother, Lester Neffendorf who died in infancy.
