Alora Mae Durden-Nelson
Alora Mae Durden-Nelson, 85, nee Hahn, of Comfort, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Gaddis United Methodist Church in Comfort with the Rev. Carolyn McGuire officiating.
Graveside services and interment followed in the Comfort Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort where visitation was held on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 13-14.
Mrs. Durden-Nelson was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Otto P. Hahn and Clara Lange Hahn.
She married Jerry M. Durden Jr. on June 9, 1951, in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Doss. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1994.
She married William (Bill) Nelson on Aug. 9, 1997, in St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Comfort, and he survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, four sons and their spouses including Don and Susan Durden of Comfort, James Durden and Monica Wallace of Seguin, Roger and Pam Durden of Austin, Jane Nelson of Austin, Sarah and Michael Crawford of Houston, Alex Nelson of Austin and Martha and Randy Whitworth of San Antonio.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren Hahn of Doss, and sisters-in-law, Lillian, Mrs. Otto Hahn, of Fredericksburg, and Helen, Mrs. Oliver Hahn, of Mason.
Mrs. Durden-Nelson was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband; one sister, Bernice Dittmar; two brothers, Otto Hahn and Oliver Hahn, and a grandson, Chisom Don Durden.
Pallbearers were Jesse Durden, Dakota Durden, Josh Durden, Kristin Isbell, Luke Durden, James Hahn, Paul Hahn and Peter Krauter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Comfort Elementary Library or to the charity of choice.
