Billies fall short against Antlers

FHS loses to rivals Kerrville Tivy in first matchup since 2011

The Battlin' Billies kept it close but didn't pull through in the end.

Fredericksburg High School lost to the Kerrville Tivy Antlers, 57-41, Friday night at Antler Stadium in Kerrville.

FHS senior quarterback Brant Bowers threw for 440 yards and five touchdowns, and junior wide receiver Jarrett Beard had four receptions for 133 yards and two TDs. Senior running back Hobbs Price scored three touchdowns and finished the game with 207 yards of total offense.

FHS trailed Tivy by only two points after Bowers threw a 75 yard TD pass to Price with 10:53 left in the fourth quarter.

The Antlers follwed with a 55-yard score by Carson Valverde to extend their lead to nine points.

The Billies failed to score after their next two drives, and Braden Jaeger's 2-yard TD run iced the game for Tivy with less than five to go in the game.

Next up for FHS is a home game against Bastrop Cedar Creek at 7:30 p.m. Friday at FHS Stadium.
