Fredericksburg FFA travels to Washington, state convention

Snedecor completes year as officer; others win awards at gathering in Fort Worth

Fredericksburg FFA Chapter had quite a busy summer.

After Audrey Cope was elected an officer on the Area VII Officer Team, she attended State Leadership Conference in Stephenville.

She also helped put on the Area Leadership Conference in Burnet, which was also attended by fellow FFA member and chapter treasurer, Kate Darsey.

Fredericksburg FFA members also attended the FFA State Convention in Fort Worth.

Colton Snedecor of Fredericksburg wrapped up his year as State FFA Vice President at the convention where he gave his final state officer address.

At the convention, several members of the Fredericksburg FFA were honored.

Madi Wahrmund placed sixth in a public speaking competition under the category “Soil Stewardship.”

Kayla Feller made it to state in Star Greenhand FFA Degree Placement.

Reed Sultemeier and Gideon Kruse competed in Proficiency where Sultemeier placed first in Sheep Production and Kruse placed first in Swine Production, both advancing to the national level.

They will be attending the FFA National Convention in October along with Cope, who represented Fredericksburg at the state convention where she served on the 2018 Nominating Committee for the incoming FFA state officers.

As a chapter, Fredericksburg was awarded the Golden Horizon Award, which recognizes the local FFA as a gold-rated chapter in the state.

Three days after the state convention, several members traveled to Washington, D.C., for the Washington Leadership Conference.

Traveling to Washington were Jacob Jenschke, Wyatt Geistweidt, Kate Wenzel, Brittley Bowers, Madison Wilson, Dalton Keener and Emma Travland.

While at the conference, the local students met people from all over the United States and were able to truly understand what it means to be a servant leader, said a spokesman.

While in Washington, they visited several of the monuments.

The Fredericksburg FFA chapter also welcomed Erica McMurray as one of the new ag teachers.
