Billies XC starts season with San Saba meet
The Billies are a week away from starting cross country season.
Fredericksburg High School junior varsity and varsity boys’ and girls’ cross country gets its season underway with the San Saba Cross Country Meet on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at San Saba Golf Course.
The cross country team has worked together for two weeks, and getting a feel for running as a team.
“Now that we are having full team workouts, I am feeling a lot better knowing our kids our getting the development they need to be able to have success this season,” head cross country coach Dan Aldrich said. “The summer running is always an uphill battle as many kids feel they do not need to do it to be good, but then they realize how far behind they are when they compare themselves to others who did the running.
“Working together as a team to prepare for meets is a lot easier than working alone, so I am excited we are finally getting to work together.”
Next on the schedule is another mid-week meet on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Mason City Park Golf Course.
The Billies have two straight meets in Gillespie County after that: Harper on Sept. 15 and FHS’ home meet on Sept. 22 at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park.
