Ladyhorns claim own hoops tourney title

After a weekend’s worth of basketball, host Harper pulled out a 38-34 victory over Llano in Friday afternoon’s game, leaving the Ladyhorns in the top position with a perfect 4-0 mark.

HHS (8-2) traveled to Fredericksburg for a game last night, but the results were not known by this week’s press deadline.

Prior to last week’s tourney, Harper defeated Leakey 47-14 at home on Tuesday, Nov. 28

Another tournament looms on the horizon for Harper when it participates in the upcoming weekend’s multi-team action at Devine High School.

The Ladyhorns open Thursday with a 10 a.m. game against Providence Catholic, followed by a 1 p.m. encounter with San Antonio Cole. On Friday, HHS takes on Uvalde at 11:30 a.m., then faces Bandera at 11:30 a.m.

Harper then battles host Devine at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

From there, the Ladyhorns will entertain Bandera on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

In addition, the girls’ junior varsity squad will participate in Saturday’s tournament to be held on the Comfort campus.

Harper Tournament

The host Harper girls’ team won all four games it played in its own tournament to capture the championship during the past weekend’s action.

After topping Ingram 62-27 on Thursday morning, the Ladyhorns returned to the court later in the day to defeat Boerne Geneva by a 38-30 score.

Then, on Friday, HHS took the best of Menard (48-21), then bested Llano in the final encounter on Friday (38-34) to claim the title.

Harper’s three seniors — Logan Menzies, Mercy Garcia and Britany Schlueter — were named to the All-Tournament team.
