Virus concerns impact community, local events

  • Fredericksburg Independent School District has announced an extension of Spring Break through March 20. The school district will continue to monitor current updates from state and local officials on how to proceed further, a school spokesman said late Saturday, March 14. All faculty and staff, except those quarantined, are asked to report to their campus by 9 a.m. Monday, March 16 to receive instruction on how to provide alternative education. 
  • Harper Independent School District has announced school closures through March 20. Staff is to report to the school as normal and e-learning materials are expected to be ready for pick-up on Wednesday. The school district will release additional information on closures later in the week. 
  • Church services at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church have been suspended this weekend. 
  • H-E-B has announced a change of store hours. All stores across Texas will be open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Deli's, bakeries, and floral services will be reduced. Pharmacy will observe the same hours. Stores will return to regular service hours as soon as possible. 
  • The Fredericksburg Music Club has announced the Sunday, March 15th concert featuring Doug Montgomery, has been canceled. 
  • The Gillespie County Democratic Association has canceled the group's meeting set for Wednesday, March 18. 
  • The Archdiocese of San Antonio has announced that Catholic mass services have been suspended. This will impact Fredericksburg, Harper and Stonewall. Read more here:
  • Horses and Hats, a preview event for Derby of the Hills, has postponed Sunday's events. 
  • Kuhlmann Cellars is offering curbside pick-up for wine orders. 
  • Central Texas College has extended their Spring Break through March 22, for all campuses, including Fredericksburg. All advising will be conducted over email at More information can found at
