Turner Hall gets non-profit status
The Fredericksburg Social Turn Verein announced at their annual meeting on Thursday, June 28 that they have officially received their 501c3 non-profit status.
Members and directors gathered to provide information about the Turner Hall and its rebuilding status. The original dance hall burned in June 2016.
Club president Duane Durst said he is eager for the group to announce the status as it something that has been in the works for over a year.
“The big thing is we want people to know that we are an official 501c3 group,” he said.
Now that Turner Hall has this designation, tax deductible donations can be made.
In addition, Durst says that blueprints are close to being finalized for the new Turner Hall building and dance hall.
“In the near future, we are hoping to put the prints out for bids with local contractors,” Durst said.
Durst emphasized the desire to keep all the construction and contracting work locally.
“This is for the community and we want the community to be a part of it,” he said.
It is still the club’s goal to break ground on the new facility in October 2018.
Turner Hall plans to continue to hold fundraisers to help cover the building costs of the new facility.
Durst said no plans have been set as ideas are still being formulated.
