Store provides one-stop-show for women’s western wear

Owning and leasing out the store front at 142 East Main for many years, father and daughter Ron Maddux and Marcy Ward, decided to open a shop for women’s Southwestern fashion.

The Mercantile, open since 2015, provides women a one-stop-shop for clothing, boots, purses, jewelry and more.

“I have always loved western clothing, and we have a history of owning western stores when I was younger,” Ward said.

When opening a store like this, the duo wanted to be able to carry all the brands in one place for locals and tourists alike.

The store carries brands such as Double D Ranch, Vintage Collection, Twisted X, Ryan Michaels, Kippy, Tasha Polizzi and more.

“You can find one brand over there and one brand across the street and so on, but I don’t think there is a shop like this in Fredericksburg where you can find all these brands in one place,” Maddux said.
