Stonewall Chamber set for 57th JAMboree

The Stonewall Chamber of Commerce is setting the stage for all things peach, Friday and Saturday, June 15-16, at the 57th Annual Stonewall Peach JAMboree and Rodeo.

There will be a queen’s contest, live entertainment, a rodeo, parade, food contests, children’s activities, a peach show and auction and more.

The gates to the Peach JAMboree open at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 15 with mutton bustin’ registration to begin at that time.

There will be a $20 entry fee and the event is limited to the first 50 contestants. The contest will start at 6:45 p.m.

Queen candidates in the Peach Queen contest will be introduced at 7:30 p.m.

The CPRA rodeo by DVS Productions will begin at 8 p.m. and will have an intermission calf scramble, mutton bustin’ and a specialty act.

Friday night’s entertainment will feature a dance following the rodeo with music by Josh Ward. The grounds will close at 2 a.m.

The grounds will re-open at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 16.

Entries will be taken in the peach pie, cobbler, preserves and salsa contests on Saturday morning from 8:30-10 a.m. Judging for those contests will begin at 10:45 a.m.

The parade will kick off at 10 a.m.

After the parade, at 11 a.m., barbecue by the pound will go on sale on the grounds of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Beans and potato salad will also be available for purchase.

The Peach Patch, with popular children’s activities, will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Stonewall Elementary School grounds.

Musical entertainment is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature Davey Schrank.

The annual peach show and judging starts at 1 p.m. (Check-in is from 11 a.m.-noon at the chamber building.)

A washer pitching tournament gets underway at 1 p.m. Registration starts at 12:30 p.m. and the entry fee is $30 per team.

A “42” Tournament is also planned for Saturday from 1-3 p.m. Registration opens at 12:30 p.m.

The peach pit spitting and peach eating contests are to begin at 2 p.m.

Girls competing for the title of Stonewall Peach Queen will take part in public interviews in an afternoon pageant at 3 p.m.

One of the highlights of the afternoon will be the annual auction of prize-winning peaches, pastries and preserves at 4 p.m.

Gates at the rodeo arena open at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Registration opens at 6 p.m. for mutton bustin’. The entry fee is $20 and the contest is limited to the first 50 contestants.

The first heat of mutton bustin’ is at 6:45 p.m. and the second heat will be during the rodeo performance.

Crowning of the new Stonewall Peach Queen and her court will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Rodeo action gets under-way at 8 p.m. The CPRA Rodeo by DVS Productions will include a calf scramble, mutton bustin’ and specialty act.

A dance featuring The Bellamy Brothers will follow the rodeo performance at about 10 p.m., with grounds closing at 2 a.m.

Ticket prices for the JAMboree are $15 for adults and free for children 12 and un-der on Friday, June 15.

Then, on Saturday, June 16, admission is $20 for adults, $5 for children two to 12 years of age and free for children under two.

Weekend passes are $30.

There is no charge for the daytime events on Saturday.
