Rotary seeks youth exchange applications
The Rotary Clubs of Fredericksburg are now taking applications for students interested in learning a new language and meeting new people, internationally.
Rotary Youth Exchange is a study-abroad program for young people who wish to spend anywhere from one month to one year in a foreign country.
Qualifications include having demonstrated leadership in their school and community, being flexible and willing to try new things, being open to cultural differences, and being willing to serve as an ambassador representing Texas and the United States.
Students are hosted by local Rotary clubs and will live with two to three different families during a school year. Host families will provide room and board, and the local Rotary club will provide a monthly allowance.
Students must attend school, at no cost to the student. Students and their parents are responsible for round-trip airfare, insurance, travel documents and costs of additional travel and tour costs.
Applications are now being accepted, through Oct. 31, for exchanges beginning during the summer and fall of 2017. Students must be between the ages of 15 and 18½ at the time of their departure for exchange.
For applications and further information, contact any member of any local Rotary Club, or Carl Luckenbach, at email@example.com or by phone at 830-997-1652.
