After the cancellation of the Hill Country District Junior Livestock Show in Kerrville, a group of volunteers created a new show, The Grandstand.
The state 4-H and FFAsanctioned replacement livestock show is set for Jan. 17-22 in Fredericksburg for junior livestock exhibitors in 30 counties affected by the cancellation. Volunteers include Texas A&M AgriLife Extension agents and FFA advisors.
“We worked closely with Gillespie, Llano, (Kimble) and Kendall counties to offer a safe and efficient schedule and shows to provide a quality experience for all,” said Taylor Osbourn, CEA of Gillespie County 4-H and Youth Development. “We will also offer a youth auction.”
Previous buyers at the Kerrville show and new buyers are encouraged to support the youth at the youth auction on Friday, Jan. 22 at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds Exhibition Hall in Fredericksburg, according to organizers.
Backwoods BBQ donated the buyers’ auction steak dinner.
