Parades, community events to highlight Fourth of July

The annual Fourth of July celebration events have been announced for 2016 in Fredericksburg and include the annual Fredericksburg Community Fourth of July Parade, the children’s parade, horse racing at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds and fireworks. 

Children’s Parade
The children’s parade starts off the day at 8 a.m. at Marktplatz. 
No sign-up is required to participate. All children under 12 are invited to attend. 
Children are allowed to bring their decorated pets, bikes, wagons and scooters to the event.

Community parade
The Fredericksburg Community Fourth of July parade down Main Street will begin at 10 a.m. following the ceremonial aircraft flyover. 
The parade will start at the Gillespie County Courthouse and will travel east on Main Street before making a U-turn at Washington Street in front of the Admiral Nimitz Museum. 
The route will then move west down Main and end at Bowie Street.
The Fredericksburg High School NJROTC will be the parade grand marshal. 
Following the parade will be the Patriotic Program at Marktplatz. 
Those in attendance are encouraged to wear red, white and blue and decorate their car, trailer or other form of transportation.

Entering the parade
Entry forms for the parade are due Friday, July 1 and all information can be found at http://www.fbgtxparade.org/entry-form.html or be picked up at the Fredericksburg Visitor Information Center at 302 East Austin Street.
Completed forms should be emailed to fbgparade@gmail.com or dropped off at the Visitor Information Center.
Line-up begins at 8 a.m. and all participants are asked to be in place behind the Gillespie County Courthouse beginning at 9:30 a.m. that morning.
