NIOF Race Meet on track this weekend
Live pari-mutuel horse racing returns to the Gillespie County Fair Grounds on Saturday and Sunday, July 16-17.
Sponsored by the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association, Inc., the Night In Old Fredericksburg Race Meet is the second of four scheduled this summer at the Class III facility.
Gates open at 11 a.m. and post time is 1 p.m. both days.
In addition, Night In Old Fredericksburg will present the new Sommerzeit Festival on Saturday.
The event is organized by Signal Fredericksburg and celebrates the cultures of the Hill Country and features food, music and a NIOF biergarten beginning around 4 p.m.

NIOF Race Meet
Quarter horse and thoroughbred races are slated as part of the NIOF Race Meet on Saturday and Sunday.
Among the racing program highlights will be the running of the 350-yard GCFA Maiden Challenge on Sunday.
The top 10 qualifiers were determined during the July Fourth Racing Festival and include (with their times in parenthesis) “Mira Teresa” (18.215), “Scr Ima Shazoom” (18.247), “First Johnnyfootball” (18.487), “Im Your Queen” (18.492), “Por Amor” (18.532), “Sendero Six” (18.584), “Tres Seis Zoe” (18.594), “Your Linus” (18.633), “Gloria Lou Shine” (18.639) and “Firstdown Apollo” (18.677).
Sunday’s racing will also include the 350-yard Texas Quarter Horse Association Futurity. Total purse is $46,100.
