Gov. Abbott to speak Friday at Nimitz dinner
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will be the guest of honor at the Admiral Nimitz Foundation’s 2017 Distinguished Speaker Series Nimitz Dinner on Friday, March 17, at St. Mary’s Holy Family Center, 306 West San Antonio Street.
The cocktail reception will begin at 6 p.m., followed by Abbott’s speech, and then dinner.
This is the first time the governor of the Lone Star State has spoken at this event.
“We always look for influential political figures for this event,” said Brandon Vinyard, marketing and public relations director for the Admiral Nimitz Foundation. “The governor seemed like a good fit this year, especially with it being our 50th anniversary.”
Previous speakers have included former U.S. Secretary of State George P. Shultz and former U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
Abbott is the 48th governor of Texas. Prior to his election as governor in 2014, he was the longest-serving attorney general of Texas.
