Burn ban lifted for Gillespie County

Gillespie County Judge Mark Stroeher announced the countywide burn ban has been lifted at 11:40 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8.

The action to lift the burn ban came after consultation with County Fire Marshal Steve Olfers, who advised that the chiefs of the rural fire departments in the county were in agreement that the recent small amount of moisture, along with the forecast for higher humidity, the possibility of additional rain and more stable conditions for the upcoming weekend, present an opportunity for people to take care of needed burning, Stroeher states.

Stroeher also advised that while the county is still in severe drought conditions, with a significant potential for wildfires, the Commissioners Court and the local fire departments want to work with the public to accomplish necessary burning while conditions are favorable. Everyone should use extreme caution while burning.
