St. Mary's School closed until Wednesday due to COVID-19

St. Mary’s Catholic School will be closed until Wednesday as per its Safe Reopening Plan, after a fifth case of COVID-19 was confirmed Thursday.

“In following our COVID-19 protocol, we must shut down for a period of time, so the school can be cleaned,” said Kaitlyn Burg, the school’s Director of Development.

Four of the cases are staff members and one is a student. The classrooms impacted will have to quarantine for 14 days.

Due to the brief shutdown, the school’s homecoming football game, initially set for 7 p.m. Saturday evening, and the volleyball games at 5 p.m. Monday will not be played.

Burg said Head Coach Rick Loth has been in communication with the other football team, St. Luke, about rescheduling its game to the end of the season.

The St. Mary’s Turkey Dinner, set for Oct. 25 at 10:30 a.m., will still be held, as it is a drive-thru event.
